I have been extremely busy hence my complete lack of updates...I will try much harder to keep you all up to speed on what's happening here at LME.
JANUARY
Black Eyed Pea II was fantastic in the JAS at Hartpury and finished 3rd in the BE100 with the best style mark of the day.
FEBRUARY
With this month being so disgustingly wet, we tried as best we could to prepare for the fast approaching event season...
MARCH
We headed off to start the season at a postponed Aston Le Walls with NASEBY and BLACK EYED PEA II. Blackie did a nice test and jumped a fabulous double clear, sadly I had to run him slowly due to the ground conditions. Jerry was slightly harshly marked in the dressage and jumped an immaculate clear sj. I decided not to run him xc as the ground was too deep and holding. Aston did very well to run this event with the weather in the run up to it being horrendous!
All the other events I entered in March were all cancelled so sadly we were looking at a very slow start to the year.
APRIL
We headed off to Ascott Under Wychwood (one of my favourite events). Again I took Blackie and Jerry. Blackie did a good test and performed a lovely double clear finishing just outside the placings. Jerry was quite excited to be out and scored 36.5, he had a very unlucky pole and gave me a great ride xc. All in all a good educational day.
Next stop was Broadway with PENCARDER SILVER STORM, NASEBY and BLACK EYED PEA II. Rosie was very happy to be out and did everything possible to irritate me in the dressage. She was lucky to be given what she got, she then had an unlucky pole and stormed around the xc clear, although she was very annoyed that I wouldn't let her out of 3rd gear! Jerry scored a very pleasing 29.5 in the dressage, had 2 down but annoyingly twisted a shoe which could have been the reason for him not jumping to the best of his ability. I withdrew him before xc as he was foot sore. Blackie produced a beautiful test and was marked very harshly. He jumped a classy double clear and was one of the fastest xc. He finished 4th in a competitive novice section.
